How to Connect a Phone to a Speaker

If you’re looking to listen to music or talk with friends on the go, connecting your phone to a speaker is an excellent option. It’s simple and doesn’t require any extra equipment. You’ll just need a good quality speaker, a cell phone with a headset jack, and some patience.

Connecting a Wired Speaker To Your Phone

Most modern speakers have an AUX cable or Bluetooth adapter that allows you to connect your wired speaker system to a mobile device with ease and sound quality. If your speaker system does not have an AUX input or wireless connectivity, you’ll have to purchase a separate amplifier to connect it to your mobile devices.

To connect your wired speaker to your phone via a cable, simply plug one end of the AUX cable into your mobile device and the other end into your speaker. You’ll also need to turn up the volume on your phone and speaker.

The most common way to connect a wired speaker to your phone is through an AUX cable. However, this method may not work for some models. Some phones have a built-in audio jack that’s able to accept a 3.5mm audio cable, so you can use this to connect your phone to a speaker as well.

Pairing a Bluetooth Speaker to Your Phone

Most new smartphones and devices support Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth is a wireless communication protocol that’s used for sharing files, transmitting music and audio, and other functions.

If your smartphone supports Bluetooth, you’ll see a list of available devices on the home screen that can be connected to. This list will include your phone, along with any other devices you’ve already paired to it.

Select your phone from the list and make sure that its Bluetooth functionality is enabled (if not, toggle on the switch). Now scroll down to the other devices section under the Bluetooth settings menu and look for your speaker in the list. Be patient, as it may take a moment to appear on the list.

Once your speaker is visible, select it and click ‘connect’. Once it’s paired, your phone will automatically pair with the speaker each time you power on it.

Alternatively, you can search for your Bluetooth speaker from the Android Settings menu and press the button that makes it discoverable to your phone. Usually, this is a button with a Bluetooth symbol on it.

When the Bluetooth icon turns on, the speaker goes into pairing mode and becomes discoverable. The pairing process typically takes a few seconds.

The speaker will then start searching for nearby devices that have Bluetooth capability and are in pairing mode. When it finds an open connection, the pairing indicator will flash and the speaker will light up.

Some of the latest speakers on the market also feature NFC, which makes it even easier to pair your phone to the speaker. If your smartphone has NFC, you can tap the touch mark on the speaker to pair it to your phone. After you’ve done this, you can then play music files on your phone and the speaker will automatically pair to it.
